About #Swings4Theo

About Theo

Theo loves baseball. He loves to play baseball, watch baseball, talk about baseball, and most of all he loves to study the game of baseball. Theo especially loves the Detroit Tigers. A self-described math and computer nerd, Theo aspires to work in Major League Baseball as a staff member in the front office and eventually become a Vice President of Baseball Operations. When Theo is not enjoying all things baseball, he is an active member of his school cross country, track, and robotics teams, part of a local swim and dive club, and enjoys fishing, being at the lake, and deer hunting.

In October 2024, Theo was diagnosed with secondary chondrosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, in the interior of his pelvis. After undergoing major surgery in November 2024, Theo was cancer free. In March 2025, after a few months of clean scans, Theo was diagnosed again with another small chondrosarcoma tumor in the same location as the first. Theo underwent his second successful major surgery in April 2025 and is once again cancer-free. To give Theo the best chance for a strong and healthy future, he is currently undergoing pencil-beam proton radiation at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

Since Theo's diagnosis, the baseball community has continued to rally around Theo! Theo has been provided countless opportunities to watch and engage in baseball - and that has made his recovery so much easier. Thanks to our friends at Georgetown Little League, local travel and high school teams, the Animals of Section B and the Florida State University baseball team, the Tiffin University baseball team, the Fort Wayne Tincaps, the West Michigan Whitecaps, the Detroit Tigers, and so many more people and organizations, Theo has watched a baseball game every day during his most recent recovery. Theo believes that life is better with baseball, and he wanted a way to share that with other kids!

Our history

Thanks to a friend who wanted to do something special for Theo, #Swings4Theo was born. What started out as a goal to sell a few t-shirts with a personalized logo to support Theo has now become a nation-wide show of support that some things are bigger than baseball.

Our mission

The mission of #Swings4Theo is to support other children with cancer and serious illnesses by providing a great day at the ballpark.
